The launch of TV Player in Spain on Amazon Fire TV in June 2020 has been a great success for Alchimie, making this new product known and reaching a significant subscriber base in the first months of its launch.

TV Player is a multiscreen service where you can watch live the main Spanish generalist and thematic channels, and also provides access to more than fifteen premium SVOD channels, including important licenses such as Vaughan, Objetivo Bienestar or Espacio Misterio de Año Cero.

Alchimie’s strategy with TV Player in Spain has been to distribute it from the beginning in multi-channel, reaching agreements with Orange or Yoigo for its commercialization within their mobile environments, while promoting the product in standalone, which is accessible from the web or from the Android and Apple App Store.

The renewal of the content and the addition of several new channels, was another key factor in the success of the service.

After the launch, Alchimie added France24’s news channels to TV Player’s live linear channel offering. In terms of SVOD channels, El Tablao, aimed at flamenco lovers, joined TV Player, as did the Flix Snip channel devoted to short films. The offer for children has also been expanded with the El Patio channel, and young adults can now discover the Wikiseba.tv and ElMapadeSebas.tv co-edited with Youtubers, as well as UBeat, or the Explora channel.

Amazon Fire TV: another step in TV Player’s distribution strategy

Amazon and TV Player have been working very closely together since the launch of the product in Spain. The TV Player application is regularly promoted to users on the Fire TV interface, which allows its downloads to grow exponentially. The promotion of TV Player contents is another way of discovering the application: from the English courses of the Vaughan Play channel, aimed at the whole family, to the police series Taken offered on the Espacio Misterio.TV channel, or the splendid documentary series Furia Terrestre about the most spectacular natural phenomena, which can be enjoyed on the MuyInteresante.tv channel.

In any case, the public reception has been very good and has corroborated the success of this distribution agreement with Amazon.
